Reliable build scripts
A finished command is not always a successful build. OlyForge helps you work through scripts, exit codes and expected artifacts with the project files in view.
const result = await runBuild();
if (result.exitCode !== 0) {
return reportBuildFailure(result);
}
return verifyArtifacts(result.outputDir);Review before applying
Compare actual behavior with the expected result. If a check fails, investigate it before applying more changes.
Connection
Base URL, credentials and a reachable server.
Project
Check the exit code and required output files instead of treating any completed command as success.
const result = await runBuild();
if (result.exitCode !== 0) {
return reportBuildFailure(result);
}
return verifyArtifacts(result.outputDir);Make build output part of the coding decision
OlyForge is AI coding software for working on a project with evidence from its build process. In the Windows workspace, bring the source folder, the command you used and the output that needs explaining into the conversation. Ask the connected assistant to distinguish a source error from a configuration problem before it proposes changes. The goal is a correction you can explain and repeat.
The build.mjs example offers one concrete discussion: should artifact verification happen after a failed build? Use that question to inspect how your own script handles exit status and output directories. The example is development material, not an included build service. Review the proposed order of operations and what happens to old output, then run the command in your project environment.
After that run, compare the actual result with the original failure instead of treating an edited script as completion. Keep warnings, missing files and unexpected exits visible in the follow-up request. OlyForge connects to supported OpenAI-compatible or Anthropic endpoints with credentials as needed. You may select an unfiltered AI model where available, but the model and server determine context, tool access and response restrictions; the label supplies no evidence that a build has passed.
Working through build failures
- What output helps explain a failed build?
Supply the command, working directory, exit status and relevant error text. Include nearby configuration files when they affect that command. This lets the discussion connect the failure to your project rather than guessing from one isolated message.
- Can a successful exit still leave a broken package?
Yes. Check that expected artifacts exist and belong to the current build, then exercise the output as your project requires. The example separates exit handling from artifact verification because they answer different questions.
- Does OlyForge provide my build toolchain?
Use the runtime, dependencies and build tools required by your project. The coding workspace helps you inspect and revise their configuration; opening a folder is not evidence that those dependencies have been installed or configured.
- Should warnings be removed in the same patch?
Only when they explain the failure or fit the agreed scope. Keep unrelated cleanup separate so you can tell whether the proposed correction changes the failing behavior and whether a later warning needs its own investigation.
